Belgrade, August 29th - The Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation with partner support of Catholic Relief Services (CRS), humanitarian relief and development agency, renewed and equipped three housing units for refugees within asylum centre in Krnjača. As a part of the project “The improvement of the conditions at the Krnjača Asylum Centre, reconstruction of three housing units in this asylum center is beginning, and the value of this investment amounts to 515,000 USD. This way, the housing capacities for 378 migrants will be improved, and the overall center capacity is housing place for 800 people.
In this occasione, next persons have supported the opening of the housing units with thir presence: Danijela Popović Rocco, Assistant Commissioner at Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, Marc D’Silva, Country Representative at Catholic Relief Services (CSR), Sam Healy, Regional Coordinator for migrants, Embassy of the United States in Belgrade, Hans Friedrich Schodder, UNHCR Representative in Serbia and Ana Koeshall, Director of the Ana i Vlade Divac Foundation.
With support of donors and partners, and in coordination with State Institutions of the resource, in first line with Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, The Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation for the last year has realized projects for aid for refugees and migrants passing through Serbia in value of overall amount of three million dollars. Within this projects, The Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation in cooperation with partners, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), for the last one year has provided and distributed humanitarian aid to refugees and migrants in overall amount of 1,9 million dollars.
